The coastal City of Calpe is a sunkissed with sun for pretty much 300 days a year<\/p>\n
Calpe is a very well known town on the Costa Blanca. There are certainly nicer spots than Calpe but nowhere has the amazing landmark that is the \u2018Penon de Ifach\u2019. This is a gigantic granite rock towering over 600 metres high. The rock is right on Calpe beach.<\/p>\n
It depends on your viewpoint but Calpe is slightly spoilt in our opinion by the high-rise apartment and hotel buildings which mar the sea front views. Just behind these high rise buildings are the Salinas de Saladar are which are salt lakes.<\/p>\n
Calpe is definitely a big bustling town far removed from it\u2019s origins as a tiny fishing village.<\/p>\n
On each side of the rock are two fantastic sandy Calpe beaches and this is the reason why most people come on holiday to Calpe \u2013 the beaches are of a very high quality sand and the waters are clean.<\/p>\n
The beaches are so long and wide that unlike the nearby town of Benidorm, you can always find a spot on the beach. The facilities on the beaches are excellent with many play areas for the children right on the beach itself.<\/p>\n
The Calpe beaches are superb and always hold a blue flag which means they are certified as being clean by the European Foundation for Environmental Education. They are surrounded by dozens of restaurants, bars and clubs offering a wide variety of food, drink and entertainment.<\/p>\n

Calpe has a wonderful modern marina that sits alongside the old fishing port; from here it is possible to take boat rides around the rock and to the nearby resort of Benidorm.<\/p>\n
One of the best ways to enjoy the local coastline is by means of the narrow gauge railway that runs from Alicante to Denia, stopping at Calpe.<\/p>\n
July is the hottest month in\u00a0Calpe with an average temperature of\u00a025<\/span><\/span>\u00b0C<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(77<\/span><\/span>\u00b0F<\/span><\/span>)<\/span>\u00a0and the coldest is\u00a0January at11<\/span><\/span>\u00b0C<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(52<\/span><\/span>\u00b0F<\/span><\/span>)<\/span>\u00a0with the most daily sunshine hours at 12 in July. The wettest month is\u00a0September with an average of 77.5mm of rain.\u00a0The best month to swim in the sea is in\u00a0August when the average sea temperature is\u00a026<\/span><\/span>\u00b0C<\/span><\/span>(79<\/span><\/span>\u00b0F<\/span><\/span>).
